With having a practice at Flag Raiders preparing for the CXBL Event 5 at Ground Zero Paintball, I caught up with Todd from Cambridge Raiders to see how the season was going so far and what to expect at the NAX Championships which is being hosted at their home Field in Kitchener, Ontario.
First off what is your name and who do you play for?
Todd Ancich from Cambridge Raiders in the CXBL Central Division.
How is the season going for your team right now?
We have been ranked number one until losing a game to Kingston… now there is a three way tie for first.
Event five is around the corner, who if anyone do you feel is the major threat in your division?
Our final game is against a team that is in the bottom half, however a landslide win could put us back at the top!
What have you guys been doing to get prepared for this event? Anything out of the ordinary?
We have practiced every weekend hard against other teams as well as have done drills on the layout. We are coming out for a win!
What about the CXBL do you guys like the most? The least? How does the CXBL compare to the AXBL?
I have never played in the AXBL so I cannot comment but the Central runs fairly well. The talent is fantastic and is getting better every year.
Does your team compete in any other leagues currently or plan to participate in any of the major US league closing events such as PSP World Cup or USPL Vegas?
After the CXBL season is complete and NAX is over we will head state side to play World Cup and play some Off Season events this winter.
What sponsors does your team have for this season?
Flag Raiders Paintball is our home field giving us a great field to play at with the latest bunker sets and with that it draws us all the greatest local teams to scrim with! We are also very lucky to have sponsorship from RPS Paint and KEE Action Sports! We are sporting this season the latest and greatest in Empire gear head to toe and are shooting the best paint!
We all know that the end of the 2009 is close, but where do you see your team going in 2010 and beyond that?
Next year will be even better than this year! We are already gearing up for the next season with plans to practice and compete in the off season. We will be looking for a few new pickups to round up our roster.
Something you love?
Listening to the crowd cheering, coaching and heckling! The french are by far the most entertaining hecklers!
Something you hate?
The “I deserve everything for free” attitude players seem to get as they start to win games.
Something that is a stereotype to Canadian paintball?
I don’t think there are any stereotypes towards Canadian paintballers, eh?
