The WPBU has decided to stop support for  the Facebook Group. People will still be able to Join but we will no longer allow post to be made there.  You will still be able to use the wall however this is not always checked by the admins and officers. This is not an attempt to lose you as a member in fact we are doing this for the opposite.  There as been many request for our members to join our website at http://www.facebook.com/l/;wpbu.org, but less than 10% of our facebook users have signed up.
There are a couple reason that made us come to the decision to leave facebook and become exclusive to our own website. Facebook is a great social networking tool that we will admit but along with that comes issue that every Organization must face while using facebook.  Since the WPBU doesn’t own facebook we have no control over the servers,  we can not decide downtime, we can not deicide the privacy standards, and we can not control what happens with the data you provide to the Union.  We also have to worry about that fact that Facebook can remove any thing they want from there servers at any time.
An other reason for us leaving face book is  just a general organization. We can’t run a well organized Union from multiple locations, and since we can control the tools we have on our website this is the logical choice for us.
In order for the WPBU  achieve its goals we need to have an up to date member’s list with contributing members.  We will be requiring all of our members to log into the website at a minimum, once every 30 days to remain an Active Member.  This insures that A. you receive news and information about the Union and projects we are working on and B.  It makes sure that we don’t have a padded member status.  The WPBU wasn’t founded to be the site with the most accounts.  Our goal is to be a Union of Paintball players willing to dedicate their time to improve the Image of Paintball, to help the local communities and the local fields.   We want our members to go to, plan, and run charity events.
If you feel that this isn’t for you than I would like to thank you for the past support. We have created a facebook Fan page.  This page will be used for people that want to show support with out actually Joining the union as a Member

Please remember that the WPBU is for The Sport of Paintball,  we expect all our members to volunteer in some way either for your community or your local field or pro-shop.  We expect that when help is needed in your area you do your best to provide any help you can. We don’t do this for money we will never ask for Dues from our members and we will never negotiate advertising deals with any company.  We are going to provide a “Donations Wall” were the names of people or companies that donate money can go.  This is a future venue and all of our members will be kept up to date with anything donations are used for.
I am also attaching our New Privacy Policy to ensure you that we are not collecting information for any other reason but for our private use for our website,  your information will never be sold.
